2026.09.2307:28:19UTC+00France Manufacturing Expands Less Than Expected

The S&P Global France Manufacturing PMI eased to 50.3 in September 2026 from 51.1 in August, signaling a second consecutive month of expansion but at a slower pace and falling short of market expectations of 50.9. The Manufacturing Output Index also edged down, to 50.2 from 50.7, pointing to only marginal growth in production.

New manufacturing orders rose slightly, posting their first increase in ten months, while new export orders contracted at the softest pace seen so far this year. Firms raised their purchasing activity, and shorter supplier delivery times helped to sustain production.

On the price front, input cost inflation accelerated, reflecting higher fuel, component, energy, and metal prices. Output price inflation also picked up, as manufacturers passed on part of these higher costs.
